Kite buggying - boarding: Aberavon, Wales Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 15-20mph Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Was on my way to Tenby but stuck the buggy in the car. Arrived to see one
guy out already on a 8m Access and the beach was looking pretty flat and
wind bang onshore. Got the Iguana out on the bigfoots, its quite a walk to
the setup area dragging the buggy. Started on the 5.5m, it was far too much
power for an unfamiliar beach with quite a few pot holes so changed down to
2.8m. Had some good runs on the 2.8m all the way down to the estuary at the
end, had to resist temptation to go on the banned end of the beach as it
looked much flatter and harder! Had some runs with the local welsh guy and
overtook him a few times. One time at the far end thought I would try and
go round the corner a bit, got bogged down in soft sand here and had to
land the kite and pack it down and walk back to the hard sand. Then decided
that as I had yet to try the new Pred mk3 4m that I would give it a shot.
The 4m was awesome, I was overpowered but got some good runs, these kids on
a dirt bike tried to race me and were quite a bit faster despite me
possibly hitting almost 40mph. These were my fastest runs of the day. Then
visibility lowered upwind and it tipped it down, the rain stopped as
quikcly as it started and I changed back to the 2.8m for a few more runs on
the now wet beach. I then retired to the B&B for some well earned kip.
